What are The Three Springs Metropolitan Districts?

Currently, there are four Metropolitan “Metro” Districts that comprise Three Springs.  Three Springs Metropolitan District No. 3 (the “District”) was established in 2006 as a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado.  The District was formed primarily to finance, construct, operate, and maintain parks, recreation facilities, and related drainage infrastructure within the boundaries of Three Springs Metropolitan Districts Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the City of Durango, Colorado.  Per an Inter-District Financing Agreement and an Inter-District Construction and Service Agreement, the District receives transfers of property tax revenues from Three Springs Metropolitan Districts Nos. 1, 2 & 4 to perform the tasks listed above.

Three Springs Metro District 1 corresponds geographically with Three Springs Village 1 and the Mercado Business District. Three Springs Metro District 2 corresponds geographically with Three Springs Village 2.  Three Springs Metro District 3 (the “District”) is a small area located on the corner of Sage View and Oxbow Circle and was designated to serve as the financing and administrative arm for all of the Three Springs Metropolitan Districts as described above. Three Springs Metro District 4 corresponds geographically with Three Springs Crossing.
